civos · v0.1 · specification

Ten systems, one ecosystem.

Every civilization runs several overlapping subsystems at once: physics, life, perception, decision, idea, coordination, memory, cycle. The Civilization OS Ecosystem treats them as processes that can be modeled separately and made to talk to each other. This hub is the specification; the subsidiary sites are the processes.

Process registry

Ten subsystems, each independently deployed.

Agent 1 — Civilization Architect

Civilization OS

The macro civilization model. Population, energy, knowledge, coordination — modeled as one running system.

civos-idea-evolution
Agent 2 — Memetics Scientist

Idea Evolution

Memetics as evolutionary substrate. Ideas are organisms; minds are habitats; narratives are species.

Agent 3 — Materials & Energy Engineer

Material Civilization

Atoms → energy → materials → tools → industry → power. Civilization is what its hardest material allows.

Agent 4 — Protocol Systems Engineer

Psy Protocol Spec

The distributed coordination layer beneath the ecosystem — realms, coordinators, state, attestations.

Agent (composite) — Kinship & Trust Networks

Clan Civilization

Trust networks at the kinship and lineage scale — the substrate institutions are built on top of.

sensory-os
Agent 6 — Perception & Consciousness Researcher

Sensory OS

Perception as construction. The brain doesn't see; it predicts.

Agent 7 — Physics & Reality Modeler

Reality Kernel

The physics layer beneath everything. Energy, information, computation as universal substrate.

decision-os
Agent 8 — Decision & Behavior Systems Analyst

Decision OS

Game theory + AI + economics fused into a unified agent-decision substrate.

cycle-engine
Agent 9 — Temporal Systems Engineer

Cycle Engine

Civilizations and systems pass through phases. Cycle Engine identifies the phase you're in.

Agent 5 — Biological Intelligence Scientist

Life OS

Biological computation as a stack: cells → tissues → brains → bodies → populations.

What binds them

Three things make them a single system:

1 · Shared ontologyEvery system starts from a common vocabulary of entities — Civilization, Resource, Institution, Idea, Phase. Any object emitted by one subsystem is recognizable to the others.view

2 · Explicit APIsEach subsystem publishes a contract list. Decision OS does not secretly read Sensory OS's internal state — it goes through GET /percept/posterior.view

3 · Psy Protocol as the wireActual cross-subsystem reads are mediated by the Psy Protocol — zero-knowledge proofs, state roots, coordinators. The other layers are research; this one has a real implementation.→ psy-protocol-spec.psyverse.fun
